Dreams is Philip Bailey's 1999 solo album for Heads Up International, placing the Earth, Wind & Fire vocalist's distinctive falsetto in a jazz-flavored, adult-contemporary setting. The recording brings together collaborators including Grover Washington Jr., George Duke, Kirk Whalum, and Gerald Albright, with Pat Metheny appearing on guitar on “Something To Remind You.” Bailey revisits Earth, Wind & Fire's “Sail Away” alongside Bread's “Make It With You,” connecting his group history with a wider repertoire. Selections such as “Waiting For The Rain,” “Moondance,” and “Strength To Love You” round out a program that foregrounds his vocal versatility beyond the band's funk and soul recordings.
