Saxophonist Art Porter's final album, released on Verve Records in 1996, tragically shortly before his passing. Lay Your Hands On Me represents the fullest realization of his artistic vision — building on the contemporary direction begun with Undercover (1994) and arriving at a more soulful, modern sound with production by Chuckii Booker and Brian McKnight. Guest vocals from McKnight and Lalah Hathaway elevate the album further. Standout track "We Are One" is a Booker-produced gem that showcases both artists at their best. A beautiful and bittersweet swan song from a genuinely talented contemporary jazz voice.
