Onyx/Kali Ranks: Live!!!/Kill Dem All: Cassette Single

Here's one for anyone who digs deep into hip-hop, rap and soundtrack: Live!!!/Kill Dem All, from Onyx (1995). Onyx is an American hardcore hip hop group from New York City, formed in 1988 by Fredro Starr, Suavé and the late Big DS. Sticky Fingaz joined the group in 1991. "Live Niguz", also known by its censored title "Live!!!" is a song by American hip hop group Onyx. It was released on July 18, 1995 by Def Jam, Rush Associated Labels and Jmj Records as a single from Def Jam's The Show: The Soundtrack and as the first single from Onyx's second album, All We Got Iz Us. The packaging presents the LP version of Onyx's “Live!” on side one and Kali Ranks's “Kill Dem All” on side two. Rear-cover credits name Fredro Starr, Sticky Fingaz, and Sonee Seeza as producers of “Live!,” which contains elements from Isaac Hayes's “Wherever You Are.” “Kill Dem All” is credited to producers Andrew Massop and Marc Pomeroy, with guitar and background vocals by Element 9. Mastering is credited to Tom Coyne at Sterling Sound. These printed credits give collectors a detailed connection to the soundtrack release, beyond the contrasting tracks paired on the tape.

You'll hear plenty of boom bap in the mix. Andrew Massop, Marc Pomeroy and Onyx produced it, and Element 9 show up to help carry them. Copies like this don't stick around — make it yours.
