Anything but Ordinary is Patrice Rushen's eleventh album, released in 1994 on Sin-Drome Records. The project followed her move to Hollywood Records, which shelved the album before Sin-Drome acquired the rights and brought it to listeners. Its songs received airplay on R&B and smooth jazz radio, with “My Heart, Your Heart” issued as a single. The opening track, “I Do,” incorporates a sample of Rushen's earlier hit “Forget Me Nots,” while Sheena Easton contributes background vocals to “I Only Think of You.” This ten-track CD offers a later chapter in Rushen's recording career, including “Tell Me,” the title song, and “Caravan.”
