Patti LaBelle And The Blue Belles: The Early Years: CD

Condition: (See available options and pricing)

The Early Years is a 1993 Ace Records collection credited to Patti LaBelle and the Blue Belles, presenting twenty-six tracks from the repertoire associated with their formative period. The original quartet brought together Patti LaBelle, Nona Hendryx, Sarah Dash, and Cindy Birdsong, building a reputation for vocal ballads and frequent appearances at the Apollo Theater before the group's later reinvention as Labelle. This program includes “Down the Aisle,” “Danny Boy,” and “You'll Never Walk Alone,” alongside less familiar selections and a closing outtake of “I Sold My Heart to the Junkman.” The original hit bearing the Blue Belles name has a notable attribution history: it was recorded by the Starlets and promoted under the Blue Belles name, rather than sung by LaBelle's quartet. The collection offers a window into the group's early recording era and the repertoire surrounding it.
