Kage is a Jackson, Mississippi rapper whose 1998 independent album Enemies Get Yo Money Right on Innovative Music stands as a G-Funk gem from the Deep South underground. The title itself is a riff on a phrase from Tupac Shakur's All Eyez On Me — and Kage's album art echoes that era's aesthetic. But beyond the homage, Kage proves himself a skilled lyricist with real range, delivering streetwise narratives over some of the best production available to Southern indie acts at the time. Timeless in its execution, this album remains just as relevant today as it was nearly three decades ago. A hard-to-find Mississippi collectible.
