Goodbye Manhattan is a 1995 Blue Note release by Pieces Of A Dream, the Philadelphia group whose music brings together R&B and jazz fusion. Founded in 1976 by bassist Cedric Napoleon, drummer Curtis Harmon, and keyboardist James Lloyd while they were teenagers, the group took its name from a Michel Legrand composition they regularly performed. Their early albums were produced by saxophonist Grover Washington Jr., establishing a foundation for a recording career that continued into the 1990s. This cassette presents a later chapter of that catalog, with selections including “Magen's Bay,” “Bassik Instinct,” “After Dark,” and the title track, followed by “We're All Alone,” “How Much I Feel,” and the closing “Club Jazz (Quiet Storm).”
