Remember Who You Are is a 1993 album by drummer, producer, and bandleader Norman Connors, released on MoJazz. Connors had long connected spiritual and post-bop jazz with sophisticated soul and R&B, often organizing albums around distinctive singers, instrumentalists, and carefully chosen standards. This 11-track set continues that bridge: contemporary vocal material such as the title song, “I Can’t Wait Till I See You Again,” and “Only When She Cries” sits beside interpretations drawn from the jazz and popular-song canon. “Tell Me A Bedtime Story,” “Naima,” and “Lush Life” bring compositions associated with Herbie Hancock, John Coltrane, and Billy Strayhorn into the program, while “A Song For You” adds another enduring ballad. The title returns as a reprise, giving the album a circular structure. For listeners and collectors, the CD documents Connors adapting his jazz-rooted production sensibility to the polished MoJazz environment of the early 1990s.
