“Where I'm From” was Passion's first single following her signing to MCA Records in 1996, introducing the rapper ahead of her debut album Baller's Lady, released that August. The song reached No. 29 on the Hot Rap Singles chart, while the album also appeared on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Her activity that year included a cameo in E-40's “Rapper's Ball” music video. This one-track MCA CD single presents “Where I'm From” specifically in the Don't Fight the Feeling Clean Remix II version, making the full mix designation a useful distinction for collectors comparing the song's releases. The listed edition carries catalog number MCA5P-3715.
