A Taste Of Honey was formed in Los Angeles in 1971 by Perry Kibble and Donald Ray Johnson, later becoming one of disco's most recognized acts with Hazel Payne (guitar) and Janice Johnson (bass). Their smash "Boogie Oogie Oogie" won the Grammy for Best New Artist in 1979. Beauty And The Boogie (1997, EMI Records) is a retrospective compilation capturing the group's disco-era highs, including an extended John Luongo remix of their signature hit. In 2004, Payne and Janice Johnson reunited for PBS specials Get Down Tonight: The Disco Explosion and My Music: Funky Soul Superstars.
