Most people think that this is Askari X's debut album, but it's not. He use was down/apart of a group called, "The Ansars" and this group dropped their first album in 1991. The name of that album was, "Righteous Black Guerillas" and it was put out on the same record label, "Righteous Records". That album is only available on cassette tape or vinyl. Then he had is debut EP, before this album in the same year (1992) as this album and it was called, "Recorded Live From The State Pen" and this album was only available on cassette. Recorded Live From The State Pen was a lead up to this full length album, "Ward Of The State"! This album is great for those of you who like Dead Prez, X-Clan, Immortal Technique, Public Enemy and others, but he is much more direct with his views.
