If jazz and rock is your lane, 52nd Street from Billy Joel (1978) belongs on your shelf. In 1964, inspired by the Beatles, he formed his first band "The Echoes," which became "The Lost Souls" in 1965 and then "The Emerald Lords" in 1966. 52nd Street is the sixth studio album by the American singer-songwriter Billy Joel, released on October 11, 1978, by Columbia Records. It was the follow-up to his breakthrough studio album, The Stranger. Joel tried to give it a fresh sound, hiring various jazz musicians to differentiate it from his previous studio albums.
There's a strong pop streak running through it. Phil Ramone worked the boards, and you can hear the care in every track. Add it to the stack while you can.
