Condition grading guide

Spyro Gyra came together in Buffalo, New York in 1974. Founder Jay Beckenstein named the band after spirogyra, a green alga he'd learned about in college, and they spent the next two decades as standard-bearers of jazz fusion, blending jazz with R&B, funk and pop.

Dreams Beyond Control (1993, GRP) leans into jazz-funk, contemporary jazz and Afro-Cuban flavors. Horn arrangements come from Tower of Power's Greg Adams and No Sweat's Barry Danielian, with Dave Grusin and Larry Rosen as executive producers.
