Details
Pittsburgh's Stanley Turrentine (1934–2000) had one of the fattest, most soulful tenor sounds in jazz, the backbone of soul-jazz since the '60s. La Place (1989) found him back on Blue Note, the label where he made many of his classics.
Bobby Lyle produced it, with Turrentine as executive producer. It's smooth, grooving soul-jazz from a master.
