Cloud 9 is the 1996 second album by Bronx rapper Nine, whose unusually deep, gravel-textured voice gave his records an instantly recognizable presence in the mid-1990s New York hip-hop landscape. Released by Profile Records, the album follows his breakthrough period with a darker, competitive set built around self-reliance, street observation, and lyrical confrontation. The 12-track program includes appearances by King Just, U-Neek, 3rd Eye, Smoothe Da Hustler, and Jamaican dancehall artist Bounty Killer, whose feature on “Warriors” broadens the record’s New York sound with a hip-hop/dancehall connection.
