Both Sides is Phil Collins' fifth studio album, released in 1993, and a particularly personal entry in his solo catalog. Collins wrote and performed the material himself, developing recordings at home before completing the album with engineer Paul Gomersall. Its reflective mood returns to themes of relationship breakdown and loss associated with his earlier solo work, while songs such as “We Wait And We Wonder” also address wider social concerns. The album includes the singles “Both Sides Of The Story” and “Everyday” alongside “Can't Turn Back The Years,” “We Fly So Close,” and “Please Come Out Tonight.” Combining intimate songwriting with keyboard-led arrangements, the record offers a more inward-looking counterpart to Collins' larger-scale pop productions.
