Bronx rap duo Nice & Smooth, consisting of Greg Nice and Smooth B, built their sound around the contrast between Greg Nice’s animated delivery and Smooth B’s calmer, narrative-focused style. “Sometimes I Rhyme Slow” leans into the latter approach, pairing reflective verses about love, loyalty, addiction, and emotional strain with a restrained melodic backdrop. The song originally appeared during the duo’s early-1990s period and became one of their more introspective recordings, standing apart from the playful energy associated with much of their catalog. This 1992 promotional CD single was issued through RAL (Rush Associated Labels) and Columbia Records under catalog number CSK 74167.
