For a snapshot of hip-hop, rap done right, start with Last Days Of A Hustler by Cloud Nine (1997). There's a strong G-funk streak running through it.
Production comes from T.C., Race and Reg, and Pimpahoe, Sani Moe and Switch turn up as guests. An easy recommendation for anyone who loves hip-hop, rap.
