Straight out of New Orleans, Louisiana, A.M. Dre was one of the rare female gangsta rap artists of the early '90s, emerging during the height of West Coast G-Funk's nationwide influence. Released on Citi Trax/Solar in 1993, this cassette single pairs her street-level delivery with hard G-Funk production in the tradition of artists like Boss. Despite limited mainstream exposure due to distribution challenges, A.M. Dre carved out a place in the independent and underground rap canon. A genuinely scarce piece of Southern rap history.
