Classic Rap Vol. 1: The Hits is a 1992 CEMA Special Markets CD, pressed in Canada, gathering the crossover hip-hop, rap that took over pop radio at the turn of the decade. Cuban-born Los Angeles rapper Mellow Man Ace opens with his bilingual “Mentirosa,” followed by Young M.C.'s “That's The Way Love Goes,” Vanilla Ice's “Hooked,” The UBC's “Mail It Frosty,” Kool Skool, The Jaz's “Doped Up” and The Lady Spice. It's a fun snapshot of rap's first big pop moment.
